For more than fifty years, MECA has been committed to the Charlotte region.
Robert H. "Bob" Pressley launched the company in the 1940s with
the purchase of a single house and two vacant lots. His son, Anthony"Tony"
T. Pressley took the helm in 1980 and was later joined by brother Robert
M. Pressley. Together, they grew the company into a commercial and residential
real estate practice.
Joining the firm in the 1990s, Tony's sons Robert "Rob" A.
Pressley and Andrew "Andy" W. Pressley, have assumed key leadership
roles with the firm. Across these three generations, MECA has remained
committed to combining professional expertise with local market knowledge
to be real estate leaders in the Charlotte Region. The company is dedicated
to providing high-quality professional services, and is equally committed
to the community that enables it to succeed.
As an industry leader, Tony Pressley was a founder and charter member
of the Charlotte Region Commercial Board of Realtors® (CRCBR). He
is one of only two Realtors® to have been named Realtor® of the
Year by both the Charlotte Regional Realtor® Association (CRRA - residential
realtors) and the Charlotte Regional Commercial Board of Realtors®
(CRCBR - commercial realtors).
MECA's commitment to professional training and continuing education is
evidenced by its Realtor® status and the professional designation
of its staff members, including the Certified Commercial-Investment Member
(CCIM) designation from the Commercial-Investment Real Estate Council
and the Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation conferred by the
Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM).
For over 25 years, MECA has taken a leadership role in many community
initiatives including Charlotte Trolley, Inc. and the South End Development
Corporation (now Historic South End). MECA launched the process that led
to Charlotte receiving its first EPA Brownfields Grant, and was one of
the active proponents of the N.C. Brownfields Laws. MECA later developed
North Carolina's first Brownfields project. MECA was also a major force
behind the expansion of Municipal Service Districts by the N.C. Legislature,
and was instrumental in helping establish the first rehab code in North
Carolina.
As the founder and first president of the South End Development Corporation
(SEDC), Tony Pressley spearheaded the branding and promotion of Historic
South End. In April 2001, The Business Journal of Charlotte listed the
revitalization of South End as one of the events, that during the past
15 years, helped transform Charlotte into a business powerhouse.
The firm's commitment to giving back to the community has focused on
the arts, community development, and education as a means of fighting
poverty. Members of the company have served on boards, commissions and
committees for numerous organizations. These organizations have included
the Community School of the Arts, Charlotte Certified Development Corporation,
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Housing Partnership, Goodwill Industries, the Community
Culinary School of Charlotte, to name a few. MECA's many contributions
have been recognized with a variety of local, state and national awards.
MECA Properties is licensed in North and South Carolina.
